The Australian rail industry is open to competition and rail operators can apply to use Network Services’s 2,300km of narrow gauge track in Central Queensland.

Rail is a much safer form of transport than road (road has approximately 40 times the amount of transport fatalities than rail).

The Rollingstock and Component Services workshop in Redbank was opened in 1958, originally to maintain Diesel Electric Locomotives.

The Rollingstock and Component Services workshop in Redbank covers fifty hectares and is one of the largest rail manufacture and maintenance facilities in the Southern Hemisphere.
