    QR is continuing to expand the capacity of its coal rail network with the completion of initial works for the second rail balloon loop at the Abbot Point Coal Terminal in Central Queensland.

    Due to population growth in the western suburbs, the western rail line from Brisbane to Ipswich is being upgraded to increase the capacity of the corridor.

    QR Network has commissioned 14 kilometres of newly duplicated track in Central Queensland between Broadlea and Wotonga ahead of schedule and $18 million under budget.

Welcome to Network Services

Network Services is a substantial and diverse rail infrastructure business serving train operators and supply chains in Queensland.  We provide design, construction, maintenance and management services on the rail network and perform major rolling stock maintenance and overhaul services for train operators. Network Services is comprised of three businesses: QR Network, Infrastructure Services and Rollingstock and Components Services.

The Rollingstock and Component Services workshop in Townsville has been the centre of railway maintenance activities in North Queensland since 1879.

The Rollingstock and Component Services workshop in Rockhampton was established in 1915 with the Roundhouse Complex.

The Rollingstock and Component Services workshop in Redbank was opened in 1958, originally to maintain Diesel Electric Locomotives.
